"Java Scrawler" Colored Pencils, Coffee Beans in Epoxy Hand Turned Vase on Purple Heart

There is a particular kind of person who settles into a coffee shop corner with a cup of something dark and earthy and a set of colored pencils, and the world outside recedes entirely. The sketch unfolds slowly — color builds on color, line on line — while the coffee cools unnoticed. Colored pencils and real coffee beans are suspended together in warm amber epoxy resin, revealed in cross-section by Jeff's lathe — each pencil sliced open to reveal its layered pigment core, each bean a small dark oval in the amber. The base is turned from purple heart, its deep violet grain a natural complement to the pencils above. It stands tall enough to command a bookshelf, and singular enough to stop anyone who sees it.
